This website is operated by African Braids by Julz ("we", "us"), a hair braiding and loc styling business based in Decatur, Texas, serving the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit this site, request an appointment, or contact us.

Information we collect

Information you send us — your name, phone number, email, appointment details, hair and scalp information, address (for in-home appointments), photos, and any reviews or messages you choose to send.
Basic technical data — like any website, our hosting provider automatically records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) for security and reliability.
Analytics data, only with your consent — see Cookies & analytics.

How booking requests work

Our booking form runs entirely in your browser. What you type and the photos you select are not uploaded to or stored on our website. So you don't lose your progress, an unfinished request (without photos or your home address) is saved only in your own browser for up to 4 hours, and it's cleared when you send it or tap "Start over". When you finish, the form opens WhatsApp, your text messages, or your email app with your request pre-filled, and you choose whether to send it. We receive your request only once you send it through that service, and the privacy policy of that service (for example WhatsApp or your email provider) also applies.

Photos you select are shown only on your own screen as a preview. If you'd like us to see them, you attach them yourself in the chat or email.

How we use your information

To respond to you, schedule, confirm, and prepare for your appointment.
To send deposit payment details and keep records of payments, cancellations, and policy acceptance.
To provide safe service — for example, knowing about scalp sensitivity or allergies you tell us about.
To share your review or photos publicly only when you have given permission.
To understand how the website is used and improve it (only if you accept analytics cookies).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies & analytics

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we enable website analytics (Google Analytics), it loads only after you click "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner. Analytics helps us see things like which pages are visited and whether booking requests are started, using information such as your device type, browser, and approximate location. If you decline, analytics does not load.

We store your choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or by clearing your browser's site data for this website.

Third-party services

Google Fonts — our typefaces are loaded from Google, which receives your IP address to deliver them.
WhatsApp, text messaging, and email — used only when you choose to send us a request or review.
Instagram — links to our Instagram page are subject to Instagram's own policies once you leave this site.
PayPal and Zelle — deposits are paid through PayPal or Zelle. Those services process your payment under their own privacy policies; we receive only the payment confirmation (such as your name and amount), never your card or bank login details.
Website hosting — our hosting provider processes server logs as described above.

We share information only with the service providers above as needed to run the business, when you have asked us to, or when required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep appointment messages and records for as long as needed to provide your services and to maintain normal business, tax, and payment records, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (see below), unless we're required to keep it.

Your choices

Ask what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
Withdraw permission to show your review or photos at any time, and we will remove them from our website and social media.
Accept or decline analytics cookies.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13. Appointments for minors must be requested by a parent or legal guardian.

Security

This website is served over a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information you don't need to share.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
